National Fishing Week 2016 is underway, and the response from both anglers and the media has been tremendous!

With many thanks to our social media team here at Catch Fishing, we have been engaged with anglers from coast-to-coast both during and leading up to Canada’s National Fishing Week. In turn, we have received overwhelming coverage from various media outlets in large urban centres as well as rural regions across the country.

New this year, we enlisted a group of anglers from all around the country as our National Fishing Week Ambassadors . Our ambassadors are on hand to participate in media interviews, events, and giveaways across the country.

In the Ottawa region, “Big” Jim McLaughlin stopped by CTV Morning Live on Monday morning to talk about fishing in the National Capital Region, as well as getting beginners started.

To the west, our Saskatchewan ambassador Jason Matity appeared on both Global Saskatoon and Regina promoting National Fishing Week, as well as the upcoming learn to fish seminars he and his brother Jeff, who is also a National Fishing Week ambassador, will be holding.

Also in Saskacthewan, our friend Brian Dygdala from The Fishin’ Hole took CTV Saskatoon Morning Host Maleeha Sheikh trout fishing on Tuesday morning, introducing her to fishing while discussing National Fishing Week. Maleeha even caught her first fish ever!

Away from the camera, National Fishing Week has also been covered by news publications like the Toronto Sun. In the Friday Sun an article written by our Kingston Ambassador, Ashley Rae, was published discussing the impact fishing has had on her life. You can also read about National Fishing Week on CBC Thunder Bay, Timmins Today, and Blackburn News.

Of course if you listen to the radio semi-regularly you have likely heard our multi media correspondent, Sarah McMichael talking fishing. Whether it be a live interview, a recorded piece or clips played during the news, Sarah has been busy talking with radio stations across the country, promoting National Fishing Week and the sport of fishing in general.

If you would like to arrange an interview with one of our National Fishing Week Ambassadors before the week comes to a close, please contact Sarah at sarah@impactcom.ca.

Happy Fishing and remember to keep those lines tight!
