Here at Keep Canada Fishing, we want to experience all of the amazing fishing opportunities Canada has to offer. So, we tried float fishing for trout in the Durham Region on the Bowmanville Creek.
Our guides for the day were Matt and Josh of Jimmie’s Fishing. We met them bright and early at 5:45 a.m. so they could take us to the river and show us the ropes. Or, the floats that is.
Float fishing uses a centrepin reel, which is a free spinning reel, to allow the current to move your float along the water. This makes it look as natural to the fish as possible.
Matt and Josh reeled in several small steelhead throughout the day, but today wasn’t our lucky day for catching a real lunker.
While we may not have landed the big one, we had a great time. Thanks Matt and Josh for taking us out! Watch for our videos from the day in the upcoming weeks.
