There are several licence-free fishing events coming up this spring and summer.

Designed to help Canadians discover just how fun fishing can be, each province and territory hosts its own unique “Free Fishing” events throughout the year.

Starting Mother’s Day weekend, Ontario’s spring Family Fishing Event will take place from May 10-11 with another on Father’s Day weekend, June 14-15. Ontario also hosts a week-long event during National Fishing Week, June 28-July 6.

Prince Edward Island hosts their free fishing event during the May long weekend from the 17-19.

The majority of events take place in June, including in Manitoba and Quebec (June 6-8), New Brunswick and Nova Scotia (June 7-8), and British Columbia (June 13-14).

The prairies host their free fishing days mid-July, with residents of Alberta and Saskatchewan being able to fish for free from July 12-13.

Please be sure to follow all catch and species limits for your area, and follow local rules and regulations.
