A Portrait of James Scissons. He is wearing a blue and white Cabela's ballcap.

We were saddened to learn that the Canadian fishing community had lost a young and avid angler this past spring.

James Scissons, 22, was an avid outdoorsman who loved working on his family’s dairy farm in Kinburn, Ontario. He was also a passionate angler who spent much of his free time fishing with his friend Kyle.

Over the past few months, many donations were made in James’ memory to the Kids, Cops and Canadian Tire Fishing Days program which exists to introduce young people to the joys of recreational fishing. We thought it appropriate to pay forward the generosity of the donors to introduce more children to a past time James enjoyed so much.

Keep Canada Fishing is giving away fishing rod and reel combos and Catch Fishing Books to 10 young anglers this month in memory of James.

To enter, please visit the Keep Canada Fishing Facebook page to share your fishing photos, with a note about why you or your loved one enjoys fishing. A random draw will be held from all submissions with special preference given to anglers 16 and under.
